2023 National Champions

2023 marked the 20th year for our national web design and development contest in conjunction with SkillsUSA. This event was held June 19 – 23, 2023 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. We are most appreciative of those who made the trek to Georgia (including Jonathan Worent, Steve Waddell, David Jackson, and Bryce Hickson). We also had representatives from the Atlanta area this year (including Shan Thomas, Jessica Murphy, and Angel McCurdy).

As we did last year, this competition was entirely online. Competitors were provided with a server based coding environment. This year, they were able to meet the client in person and ask questions about the desired site. Competitors were encouraged to use font libraries (such as Google fonts) and were asked to provide an overview of their web development process and wireframes/ storyboards to practicing professionals from the Kansas City metro area.

Congratulations to all who participated. In order to participate, you needed to win first place in your individual state. That, in itself, is a major accomplishment. We noted that this year, we were able to assist many states with their SkillsUSA web competitions (again providing the client assets and an online coding environment for those states). We are already updating our documentation and beginning to plan for the 2024 competition to be held again in Atlanta.
