As the pandemic recedes, this was our first year in person since 2019 for our national web design and development contest in conjunction with SkillsUSA. This event was held June 20 – 24, 2022 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. It was great to be back in person. Many thanks to those who helped develop and administer this competition. We had some participate remotely (via Zoom) during the competition and others judge the results remotely.
This was the first year we employed a completely online competition. Competitors were provided with a server based coding environment. They were able to meet with the client via a Zoom session and ask questions of the client directly. Competitors were encouraged to use font libraries (such as Google fonts) and were asked to provide an overview of their web development process and wireframes/ storyboards to practicing professionals from the Kansas City metro area.
Post-secondary winners
First place – Southern Adventist University, Collegedale, TN.
Second place – Ranken Tech College, St. Louis, MO
Third place – Meridian Technology Center, Stillwater, OK
High school winners
First place – Blackstone Valley RVTHS, Upton, MA
Second place – Meridian Technical Charter High School, Meridian, ID
Third place – South Technical High School, St. Louis, MO
Congratulations to all who participated. In order to participate, you needed to win first place in your individual state. That, in itself, is a major accomplishment. We are already updating our documentation and beginning to plan for the 2023 competition to be held again in Atlanta.
